South Africa Summer Program

SFSU is excited to announce the South Africa Summer Program - 2018

For the past four years, faculty and students from the Department of Child & Adolescent Development (CAD) have traveled to Vrygrond, a township outside of Cape Town, to work with local early childhood preschools and child care centers. Collaboration with local educators focused on best practices, language and literacy programming, and building capacity for program evaluation. A faculty member and student from the Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) Program partook in this experience in 2016. Additionally, five ECSE and six CAD students had the opportunity to support teachers in Vryground during the summer of 2017. In efforts to continue to build collaboration and promote inclusive early childhood practices, students and alumni from both programs are encouraged and welcomed to apply for this unique experience.

  • Program will run for eight weeks, from the end of May to the third week of July, 2018
  • Full-time (40 hours/week)
  • Must fulfill roles as ambassadors of SFSU and commit to the entire eight weeks, working with low resourced facilities and difficult conditions
